Status: SAFE BUT NEEDS FUNDS
Information from pound pullers:
MISKA (CHIPPED) **SAFE**
**PHOTOS TO FOLLOW**
**URGENT FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY NEEDED URGENTLY **
Miska is in our pound and she is a female Husky of around 6 yrs old, She has been described as a really lovely sweet girl.
Miska has Glaucoma in BOTH eyes. She has been taken to the vets and they have advised either to PTS or to remove BOTH her eyes
The pound phoned me to ask me what hope did she really have and what did i want to do.
Well there is NO WAY this girl is going to be PTS with out us trying and giving her the chance.
While i am sure that we are going to get a lot of comments on this post i must point out a few things
RESCUE SPACE ONLY CANNOT BE RE HOMED DIRECT FROM THE POUND!!
Rescues who apply must be able to place Miska direct into a foster with experience of Blind dogs. .
They must also think about the costs though we are sure things can be helped including from the council
They must NEVER put her in a kennel.
Also they must believe that they know they would have the correct audience of being able to place her in the best and correct home.
Full support will be given from Jacobs pound dogs UK and we will help in anyway we can.
We are hoping that we will have photos of Miska tomorrow to be able to share but i wanted to get this little girl out there as soon as possible to give her a head start.
Miska is chipped and this is not her real name, owners are aware and will not be claiming, so potentionally i believe she may not have to do her 7 days though this is not confirmed and i will find out more after i have spoke to the pound again tomorrow.
What i do know of her is that she is such a lovely girl that she DOES deserve the chance to live as she is from what we can tell and from what the vet can see no other health issues. She was a very good girl at the vets and allowed them to do numerous of checks on her eyes and it does seem that she does have a lot of build up of fluid behind the eyes as well.
I will update more as i know it as soon as i can.
If you are a rescue and you are able to offer a space should not be claimed, Then please contact Shelle Allders or a member of admin at Jacobs pound dogs uk direct via pm as we may miss your tag.
PLEASE NOTE DOGS WHO ARE NOT CLAIMED ARE UNABLE TO BE RE HOMED DIRECT FROM THE POUND. THEY NEED TO BE PLACED IN RESCUE CARE, WHERE THEY WILL BE FULLY ASSESSED ETC, BEFORE PLACING UP FOR ADOPTION
Needs donations for *: neutering / vaccinations / microchipping / transport / emergency boarding if needed
*on average, it costs £150-£200 to pay the rescue costs (neutering, vaccination, chipping, worming, flea treatment) for every dog rescued from the pound, and more if they need to be transported and moved into EB before they find a rescue space. Please note that funds alone do not guarantee a dog’s safety, as there are many other factors to take into account such as availability of emergency boarding, rescue kennels, transport and rescue space. They do, however, provide a huge help to the dogs and their helpers in paying for their vital and expensive rescue costs.
